The We Energies Supplier Diversity Symposium is a business networking event designed to enhance awareness, increase procurement and business opportunities/utilization with minority and women-owned businesses (MWBEs), and to introduce MWBEs to the various We Energies Supply Chain Management and End-user Department procurement decision makers.

In addition to the aforementioned We Energies personnel, prime contractors to We Energies will also be available for engagement sessions.

This year's Supplier Diversity Symposium will focus on matching the primary products or services provided by the MWBEs with the appropriate End-user Department Table (with support by Supply Chain Management) that is responsible for sourcing/purchasing the primary product or service.

Business Matchmaker appointments will be scheduled for those MWBEs who register and submit their information by Wednesday, August 12, 2009.  Each appointment will last 10 minutes with a 5-minute break in between.  Additional information and the rules of engagement will be provided to the MWBEs at the Symposium.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

  • 7:30 am: Continental breakfast
  • 8:00 am: Welcome, Presentation and Rules of Engagement
  • 9:00 am - 1:00 pm: Matchmaker Sessions

PARKING

Parking is available for a fee at the Grand Avenue Parking Structure across the street (the Shops of Grand Avenue - 275 W. Wisconsin Avenue).

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

  • Expectation:  Each meeting will last 10 minutes, with a 5-minute break in between.  The 5-minute break will allow time for the We Energies/Prime Contractor representatives to write notes about the meeting and for the MWBEs to get to their next meeting.  Please make sure you keep to the schedule to ensure continuity and maximum effectiveness of this session.
  • We will schedule matchmaker meetings based on We Energies and our prime contractors' needs as well as trying to balance MWBE's requests to meet with particular departments and prime contractors.
  • In an effort to allow opportunities for all MWBEs, we reserve the right to not schedule double appointments.
  • We Energies/Prime Contractor representatives will initiate the meeting by sharing the procurement/ business process and focus for approximately 4 minutes.
  • Each MWBE will have approximately 6 minutes to discuss their business capabilities, experience and value proposition.  This format should afford the opportunity for We Energies/Prime Contractors to engage potential suppliers and exchange information for future and/or follow-up meetings and discussions.
  • Meeting Suggestions:  Be specific and strategic in discussing the products and services your company offers.  Be sure to ask the We Energies and Prime Contractors for insight and guidance on how you can best follow up and what course of action can be taken and expected.
  • Please, no substitutions allowed on site.  Additional appointments can only be approved by Jerry Fulmer and Dr. Floyd Rose.
  • Notify us immediately if you have pre-registered but later decided not to participate in the Business Matchmaker Sessions.
  • Walk-ins and those not pre-scheduled should see Jerry Fulmer.

Council Enterprises, Inc.

Council Enterprise's role is to support and develop minority-owned businesses by facilitating important connections between corporations and minority suppliers. Our regional Council operates under the umbrella of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, one of the country's leading business membership organizations. It was chartered in 1972 to provide increased procurement and business opportunities for minority businesses of all sizes. The NMSDC network includes a national office in New York and 39 regional Councils across the country. There are 3,500 corporate members throughout the network, including most of America's largest publicly-owned, privately-owned and foreign-owned companies, as well as universities, hospitals and other buying institutions. As a regional Council, we certify and match minority-owned businesses (Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American) with member corporations that want to purchase goods and services. Through our events we are able to provide opportunities of exchange and partnership to both supplier and corporate members. Our territory includes the state of Wisconsin, Central Illinois and Iowa. Council leadership is provided by President, Floyd Rose, Ph.D.
